Driving Results with Revenue-Focused SEO: An Interview with Peter Brittain of SEO Perth Experts

Luka Dragovic Written by:
Over the past 25 years, SEO Perth Experts has grown from a passion project sparked by Peter Brittain’s firsthand experiences with digital marketing to a thriving agency delivering measurable results for businesses.

In an exclusive interview with Website Planet, Peter shared how his diverse background in sales, music, and equity markets shaped the agency’s focus on revenue-driven SEO strategies that prioritize conversions over rankings. By understanding the unique needs of Perth-based businesses and adapting to industry trends, the team has consistently delivered transformative outcomes.

From skyrocketing organic traffic to building local trust, SEO Perth Experts remains at the forefront of digital marketing innovation.

What inspired you to establish SEO Perth Experts in 1998, and how has the company grown over the past 25 years?

My entry into SEO started quite organically. Back in 1998, I was running several businesses, including an online dating site. We were using Google Ads to build our user base, and while we got good at reducing acquisition costs, it became clear that relying solely on paid traffic wasn’t sustainable for our budget. This realization sparked my deep dive into SEO.

This hands-on experience showed me how crucial organic search was for business growth, and I found I had a real passion for the technical side of digital marketing. Over the past 25 years, we’ve grown from those early days to helping businesses across Australia and internationally.

My background in sales, music, nightclubs, and equity markets has given me a unique perspective on digital marketing that goes beyond just algorithms – it’s about understanding real business objectives and creating strategies that deliver measurable results.

How does your focus on revenue-driven SEO strategies differentiate you from other agencies that prioritize rankings?

Rankings alone don’t pay bills – conversions and sales do. While achieving top positions is important, we focus on targeting keywords that drive real business results. Every campaign we run is built around understanding what actually generates revenue for our clients.

Our approach involves careful analysis of search intent and traffic quality. We look beyond basic ranking reports to track meaningful metrics like lead generation, form submissions, and actual sales. This revenue-first mindset has helped clients like Kiss My Axe grow their organic traffic by 981% with corresponding business growth. When we report to clients, we focus on bottom-line impacts rather than just keyword positions.

Can you share success stories where your SEO strategies significantly increased clients’ organic traffic?

Two standout examples come to mind. Principal Pools + Landscapes in Perth has seen a 409% increase in organic traffic since 2019. We achieved this by targeting high-value keywords like ‘Landscape Designers Perth,’ moving from position 25 to position 2. But more importantly, this translated into consistent new business opportunities and growth.

Similarly, Harrison’s Landscaping in Sydney has been a remarkable success story. Over our decade-long partnership, we’ve helped them become the dominant force in their market. They now rank first for their most valuable keywords, including ‘Landscaping Sydney’ and ‘Landscapers Sydney.’ What makes these results particularly significant is that both companies are leaders in their respective markets, showing that our strategies work for high-end, competitive businesses.

What is your approach to understanding and adapting to the unique SEO needs of Perth-based businesses?

Perth’s business landscape is unique due to its geographical isolation, which actually makes digital presence even more crucial. Local businesses here need to work harder to stand out online, and we’ve found that Perth customers put particular emphasis on local reputation and trust.

Our approach involves deep local market understanding. We focus heavily on building local relevance signals and highlighting our clients’ credibility in specific Perth suburbs and areas. This local-first strategy has proven particularly effective – just look at the results we’ve achieved with Perth businesses like Principal Landscapes, Dental O So Gentle, and Rowe Bristol Lawyers. Each of these clients has seen significant growth by targeting their specific local markets effectively.

How do you ensure transparency and effectiveness in your monthly SEO reporting for clients?

Over the years, we’ve learned that most clients don’t want to wade through complex technical reports – they want clear, actionable insights about their ROI. We’ve refined our reporting to focus on what really matters: plain-English updates that show exact, measurable results.

Every month, our clients receive straightforward reports that track rankings, analytics, and conversions like form submissions. We break it down simply: here’s what you’re spending, here’s where you are this month compared to last month, and here’s the direct impact on your business. This no-nonsense approach helps busy business owners quickly understand their progress without needing to become SEO experts themselves.

What emerging trends in SEO do you believe will have the most impact on businesses in the coming years?

We’re seeing some significant shifts in the search landscape that businesses need to be aware of. Google has notably changed how it displays organic search results, giving more prominence to paid advertising while making organic results less prominent. This shift means businesses need to be even more strategic about their organic presence.

Another major change is Google’s recent $60 million deal with Reddit for content access. This highlights the growing importance of user-generated content in search results. Additionally, we’re seeing a transformation in how people search for information, with many now turning to AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity instead of traditional Google searches for their questions.

These changes mean businesses need to adapt their strategies – focusing more on creating authentic, value-driven content that stands out in an increasingly competitive space. It’s not just about ranking anymore; it’s about providing real value that connects with your target audience across multiple platforms and formats.
