Strikingly Review - Kyra1

Building a website – even just a landing page – can be a time-consuming task if you haven’t done it before. Luckily, Strikingly’s straightforward editor can help you get your single-page site online within hours.

If your end goal is just to have a basic web presence – to let people know who you are and how to contact you – Strikingly might be the builder for you.

However, if you’d like to build a more sophisticated website, with e-commerce integrations or detailed website analytics, you should probably use a more comprehensive tool. We’ve tested dozens of options to come up with the best website builders in 2024.

Strikingly’s platform supports ten languages, including Dutch, French, and Spanish. You can also create a multi-language website if you invest in the Pro plan.

Features and Ease of Use

Strikingly is a basic tool built with beginners in mind. All you need to do is select a template, upload your images, and write some compelling text for your site.

All plans include:

  • A drag-and-drop editor
  • Social media integrations
  • Online store functionality (although you can only sell one product with the free plan)
  • A blogging toolkit

Strikingly offers 29 website templates that you can filter by category, such as business, personal and portfolio.

If you don’t like the first template you picked, you can always switch to another one. Another great feature is the template preview, which allows you to see how site content would look in different templates. If you’ve never designed a website before, this feature will also help you get a feel for what kind of information you should include on your site.

Strikingly - Templates
Strikingly has a great selection of modern and clean templates.

Plus, every Strikingly template is automatically optimized for all devices, so you don’t have to worry about your website looking awkward on mobile.

Pricing and Support

A free account will get you a fully functional site with 5GB of monthly bandwidth on a .strikingly.com URL. One nice thing is that Strikingly doesn’t limit the number of free sites you can create, which is helpful if you want to test out a bunch of different site variations.

The Limited plan gives you more bandwidth and storage space, but you can only remove Strikingly branding from your site on the Pro plan and above. The Pro plan is clearly Strikingly’s shining star – not only do you get your own domain on this plan, but you can create multi-page websites and sell up to 300 products (plus you get access to the App Store).

Lastly, the highest-tier plan is the VIP plan, but its main attraction lies in the priority support and email newsletters, which may not be as appealing to beginners.

While it’s true that Strikingly lets you sell products on any plan – even the free one – I’d recommend checking out our review for Wix or Squarespace if you’re really serious about building an online store. Both of these builders offer unlimited bandwidth and unlimited products on every e-commerce plan.

Strikingly scores pretty high on customer support: all its plans include 24/7 live chat, with phone support available for VIP users.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quick and friendly response I received from Strikingly’s support team, even though the representative was branded as a “Happiness Officer” (cue eye roll).

I questioned how I could incorporate video and gif material into my site, and I got a response within a minute after posing my question. The representative also sent me a copy of our real-time chat discussion via email so I could look back at it if I needed. Now that’s something new to me!

Strikingly REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

Overall, Strikingly is a good tool for beginners looking to create landing pages or other single-page sites. With its intuitive drag-and-drop editor and limited yet attractive selection of templates, you’ll be able to get your site online in a few hours.

The platform is perfect if you want a basic web presence: for example, to create brand awareness for a small business or showcase your work in a digital portfolio. If you’re looking for something a bit more advanced, though, I would suggest going with one of our 10 Best Website Builders for 2024.

Pros:
  • Intuitive drag-and-drop editor
  • Simple, attractive templates
  • Basic e-commerce features on all plans
  • Efficient, helpful support

Cons:
  • Very limited template customization
  • Limited language support

FAQ

Is Strikingly a good website builder?

It depends on the kind of website you want to build. If you just want a simple landing page and you don’t care about customization, Strikingly could be a good option for you. If, on the other hand, you want to build a full-featured website with a unique look, you’ll probably need a more powerful tool. Check out our top 10 best website builders for some inspiration.

How much does Strikingly cost?

Strikingly’s plans start off at just $8.00 per month, but the features you get are fairly limited. For instance, the entry-level plan lets you build one-page websites only, whereas with a builder like Wix, you can fully customize your site regardless of the plan you choose (check out our expert Wix review for more details).

Whether you go with Strikingly or a different builder, don’t forget to look into our coupons page. You’re bound to find a great deal over there.

Is Strikingly safe?

Strikingly provides a free, embedded SSL certificate for every website, ensuring a minimum level of protection. However, you are responsible for conducting your own malware checks and regularly backing up your site to safeguard it against malicious attacks.

Which is easier to use, Strikingly or Wix?

Both are very easy to use, but I will say that if you want to spend as little time as possible building your site, Strikingly is the better option. However, Strikingly has relatively few templates on offer, and you can’t change the look of your site in a meaningful way because customization is very limited.

Wix gives you far more creative freedom, and has over 500 templates to choose from – even on the free plan. It takes a bit longer to get used to, but if you’re serious about your website, it’s worth spending the extra time.

Terrible features and appalling Terms and conditions

They charged me for an email for a year and I asked for it not to be auto renewed. They asked me to delete the email and won't refund me. So I went ahead and did that. Then I decided that I actually paid for a whole year I might as well use their emails, guess what, thier happiness office is asking me to pay again for a new annual subcription! Their web design features are absolutely terrible - very unhappy to say the least

Bad choice

Almost no learning curve. But I couldn't reliably save my texts and images and wasted a lot of time repeating the same operations. Their online "happiness officers" (tech assistants) were nice with words but can't offer real help. Bottom line: stay away from it.
