Ameba Ownd Reviews 2024 – Not Bad, but What’s the Catch?

Sandra Tanoto Written by: Sandra Tanoto

Ameba Ownd is a free website builder based in Japan, catering to those who would like to create an aesthetically-pleasing site but who may not have much web programming knowledge.

Overview

To compare the best website builders on ease of use, templates, customer service, and value for money, we tried to build the same site on each platform. Check out the results here.

Ameba Ownd is a free website builder based in Japan, catering to those who would like to create an aesthetically-pleasing site but who may not have much web programming knowledge. With their simple, intuitive, and clutter-free interface, users can easily drag and drop elements on their pages, add text and images, upload blog posts, create an online shop, and configure SEO settings. You can even integrate social networks, such as Instagram and Facebook. In addition, Ameba Ownd has their very own mobile app, making it easy for users to edit their site or upload blog posts on the go.

True to the Japanese sense of style, Ameba Ownd’s theme offerings are sleek and minimalist, with over a hundred themes available for selection. However, one downside is that most of the themes are simply variations of a few basic themes with a change in cover image and color scheme, which means that most Ameba Ownd websites will look fairly similar to one another unless they expand their theme offerings in the near future. That said, considering all the services and the convenience they offer users, this website builder is not to be taken lightly.

Ameba Ownd offers a free service for up to 10 sites. Upon registration, users can choose to create their subdomain under one of seven primary domains, depending on the type of site: amebaownd.com, therestaurant.jp, shopinfo.jp, storeinfo.jp, theblog.jp, themedia.jp, and localinfo.jp.

Before you make a decision, read my colleague’s comparison of the best website builders to make sure you’re not missing out on better alternatives.
