WebMachine is an Austrian company that offers a wide range of hosting services including shared web hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, and managed virtual/dedicated servers. It also offers domain solutions, FTP space, name servers, and backups.
WebMachine’s servers are located in Vienna’s UnixSecurity data center. Its old-style (and frankly unaesthetic) website is in German.
Features and Ease of Use
WebMachine offers five shared hosting plans: XS, S, M, L, and XL.
The Webhosting XS free plan (albeit with a setup cost) provides 500 MB web space, a free domain name, 5 GB monthly data transfer, 1 POP email account, and 1 FTP user account.
The other four hosting plans differ in terms of disk space (5 GB – 30 GB), monthly data transfer (50 GB – 300 GB), and the number of email accounts (1 – 100). All four plans come with these common characteristics:
- 99.9% network warranty
- Web-based FTP
- Email forwarding, SMTP, and POP
- Webmail access
- Daily data backups
The bundled website builder supports five different languages.
WebMachine also offers six each of virtual servers, managed virtual servers, dedicated servers, and managed dedicated servers. You can easily upgrade your plan at any time, but you can only downgrade at the end of a billing period after giving a month’s notice.
With the dedicated servers, you can choose from various Linux operating systems (such as Red Hat Fedora or CentOS) and have SSH root access.
Pricing and Support
WebMachine’s shared hosting plans are affordably priced, but you have to pay 20% VAT and a one-time setup charge. Plans are priced in euros, and you can pay for them by credit/debit card, direct debit, or bank transfer. Available billing cycles are quarterly, half-yearly, and annual.
You can reach out to WebMachine’s customer support team via a support ticket system, but I received no response to my test ticket as a pre-sales prospective customer. To some extent, you can support yourself via the FAQ page and the support database that contains some useful articles:
