Web Hosting Chile is a subsidiary of Smart Systems Ltda, a Chile-based company that’s been in business since 1999. They provide a wide variety of IT services including shared website hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated servers. Their shared web hosting services are suitable for beginners and smaller websites but lack advanced features that larger websites need.
Features and Ease of Use
Web Hosting Chile comes with an average set of features for shared hosting. With all plans, you’ll get the following:
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Softaculous auto-installer
- Website builder
- Free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates
- PHP selector tool
- Anti-DDoS attack protection
99.9% annual uptime guaranteed
Two things I really like about this provider is that they offer free SSL certificates and a PHP selector tool. You won’t have to worry about which PHP version you’re using as you can just pick from the selector and the host automatically configures your platform to support it.
There’s not a lot of advanced features with this host, so it’s really only suited for personal and small business websites that don’t need a lot of advanced developer support. Also, this host is somewhat lacking on the number of databases they allow, so those needing to host numerous databases will need to look elsewhere.
If you’re a beginner, this host is a solid option as they offer both a website builder and the Softaculous auto-installer. Note that if you plan to install a CMS such as WordPress, go with the 8GB or the 12GB plan as the 4GB plan only offers a single database that will be used up by the CMS. For more advanced users, you can use cPanel to set up your website. Note that their cPanel is in Spanish.
Pricing and Support
Web Hosting Chile has three shared hosting plans, all with unlimited bandwidth and the features listed above. Below are the differences in the plans:
4GB | 8GB | 12GB | |
Storage | 4GB | 8GB | 12GB |
Domains | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Email accounts | 30 | 60 | 100 |
MySQL databases | 1 | 3 | 6 |
If you want reliable basic plans, these plans are suitable. They work well for personal and small business websites, but if you have a database-heavy or high-traffic website, it would be better to choose either the VPS or dedicated servers from this provider.
Pricing on these plans is relatively average. I do like they offer free SSL certificates, saving you money on each domain hosted. However, you’ll have to pay for your domain name. All plans come with a ten-day money back guarantee.
Support for this product is slightly below average. They offer phone support (not toll-free), email support, and ticket support, but their live chat is for sales only. Also, their knowledge base is extremely lacking. The lack of effort in their knowledge base makes me wonder how much energy they’ll put into supporting your website.
