To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.
Irish company VMotion IT Solutions offers a wide range of hosting products and related services. It was established in 2010 by experienced founders with a background in the hosting industry. While most of its packages are geared toward small business website owners, it also offers plans for personal websites and larger business websites.
VMotion’s own website is in English, and it has data centers in Ireland, France, and the U.S.A.
Features and Ease of Use
VMotion offers just about every type of hosting there is, and each comes with an extensive list of features including usable amounts of storage and unmetered bandwidth. Even the shared hosting packages come with semi-dedicated resources so that you can be assured of above-average performance and stability.
The tools and features that allow you to set up a superb hosting solution that meets your needs include:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free domain registration
- Support for up to 25 domains
- Free Let’s Encrypt and Comodo SSL certificates
- Free webmail hosting
- Monthly to daily automatic backups
- Up to 50 GB SSD shared storage space
- Unmetered shared hosting bandwidth
- Up to 3 TB dedicated server bandwidth
VMotion covers all the basics, with SSL certificates, email, domains, backups, and the powerful DirectAdmin control panel, but beware that some of these things could cost you extra. All server products let you choose between self-managed and managed servers.
With a wide variety of CMS-specific plans, you also have a quick and convenient way to get a WordPress, Magento, or OpenCart hosting solution up-and-running. You can also choose Windows rather than Linux if you prefer.
Pricing and Support
It might take you some time to navigate through VMotion’s extensive range of hosting products, but they have organized the solutions by hosting type, and the packages and prices are straightforward.
The prices start quite low for a European hosting company, and you also get a decent amount of storage and bandwidth as well as free DNS management, a domain name, and email forwarding. But beware that several up-sold add-ons could be preselected at the checkout.
Not all plans allow monthly billing, and in any case, commitments of less than a year incur a setup fee. You also get discounts when you sign up for longer terms. Since everything points toward making a major commitment, you’ll be pleased to know that the 30-day money-back guarantee gives you some time to change your mind. You also get prorated refunds at any time after that, which is pretty reassuring.
For self-support, VMotion provides a well-stocked knowledge base. Alternatively, you can access 24/7/365 technical support by ticket, or you can call an Irish telephone number during office hours. Although it can take up to two days to receive a reply, I have found the staff to be polite and helpful:
How much does VMotion cost?
VMotion offers plans from $5 to $70. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which VMotion plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. VMotion can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from VMotion here.
How good is VMotion’s customer support?
VMotion is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of VMotion being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
