Ohio-based American hosting company ThrillerCloud was established in 2013. It offers a variety of hosting and web-related services, including web hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, domain services, and DDoS protection. Servers sit in Seattle and Europe.
ThrillerCloud’s website can be switched between the English, German, and French languages. It boasts about more than 9,000 clients (4,000+ of which are “happy customers”), and it also — strangely — boasts about having won zero awards.
Features and Ease of Use
ThrillerCloud offers three levels of Linux shared hosting — Lite, Turbo, and Turbo+ — which include these features:
- 99.9% to 99.99% uptime guarantee
- Free SSL certificate
- DirectAdmin control panel
- Unlimited storage
- phpMyAdmin
- Weekly backups
- PHP and MySQL support
- SSH access
- Cron jobs
In the “Lite” plan, you get two domains, ten databases, and unlimited storage and data transfer. This plan may be ideal for small websites with low traffic. On the opposite side, the “Turbo+” package offers six times higher performance, along with unlimited domains, databases, storage, and transfer, making it more suitable for high-traffic scenarios.
All shared hosting subscriptions include a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate and the DirectAdmin control panel. Although this control panel isn’t as intuitive as the popular cPanel, it still does a good job of allowing you to administer all aspects of your hosting. The control panel integrates the Softaculous one-click application installer for hundreds of popular CMS and other programs such as Joomla, WordPress, and Drupal.
ThrillerCloud’s free weekly automatic backups aren’t exactly thrilling because even a week’s worth of data loss could be a lot, but you can manage them from the control panel.
If shared hosting isn’t sufficient for your needs, you could instead opt for one of the VPS or dedicated server solutions.
Pricing and Support
For the features and resources, including free SSL, ThrillerCloud’s shared hosting prices range from cheap to moderate. You can pay by PayPal or credit/debit card, and the 30-day money-back guarantee gives you a month to get out if you’re not happy with the services.
Although this vendor’s knowledge base is bare and the community link doesn’t work at the time of this review, there is at least a set of frequently asked questions for each service. Remote support is available via TeamViewer, and you can reach out to the customer support team via telephone, ticket, email, or live chat. I got answers to my questions via the live chat channel:
