To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.
Three Pixels Web Solutions (aka. Conflated Solutions) is based in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. In addition to designing professional websites and building e-commerce stores, this company provides WordPress web hosting and professional email solutions to more than 200k customers.
The company website is easy to navigate, and plans are easy to compare. However, some of the information is obsolete, and some of the links throw up an HTTP 404 (page not found) error.
Features and Ease of Use
Three Pixels gives you ample storage and other resources to build and manage your personal blog or website in the familiar WordPress environment. Its hosting plans include:
- Free Domain for one year
- Free website setup
- Unlimited email addresses
- cPanel & WordPress admin
- MySQL databases
- Multiple installs
- SEO Tools
- Free SSL Certificates
In addition to the standard features, you get unlimited web resources and free daily backups of your WordPress websites and emails for 30 days. Cloudflare integration with content caching and traffic monitoring/filtering ensure that your website is secure and loads fast from anywhere in the world.
Since this is a managed WordPress service, you don’t have to lift a finger to transfer your website or worry about maintenance. WordPress core and plugins are updated regularly, and servers are monitored and protected, so vulnerabilities are detected, and fixes are applied before you notice them.
The WordPress hosting is powered by high-performance servers with fast SSD drives. Although the 99.9% uptime guarantee is not the highest around, this provider has no history of downtime, so there’s not much to worry about in terms of website availability or performance.
Pricing and Support
Three Pixels’ WordPress hosting service is one of the cheapest south of the Sahara. Although you should be able to pay for packages monthly using PayPal or a credit/debit card, the automatic order process wasn’t working at the time of writing, so you have to contact the company instead.
Upgrades are easy, and you simply pay the price difference between your current and intended plans. And if you’re not happy with the service, you can cancel your plan for a full refund within 30 days.
Various communication channels are offered, including telephone, online contact form, and live chat. Unfortunately, the live chat isn’t always available, and there’s no guarantee you’ll get hold of support even if you send back-to-back messages (as I did). Self-support resources are limited to a very limited knowledge base and a not-recently-updated blog.
