Szerverem.hu was founded by two information technology students in 2007. It is based in Debrecen, but it has a Budapest-based server room (in a Dataplex data center) that assures 99.999% power supply availability and has N+1 redundancy.
Szerverem.hu’s website supports the Hungarian language. It also has a Facebook profile, but it looks like this hasn’t been updated since 2013.
Features and Ease of Use
Szerverem.hu offers four static shared hosting plans, four dynamic shared hosting plans, three server hosting plans, seven VPS, and eight dedicated server plans. The static shared hosting plans provide you with:
- 100 MB to 1,000 MB database space
- Unlimited mailboxes
- 1 to 10 database subdomains
- Timed PHP run (crontab)
- Web and DNS administration interfaces
- FTP access
- Password-protected directories
- IMAP, POP3, and (WAP compatible) webmail
- Spam and virus filtering
- Visitor statistics
- Custom 403 and 404 error pages
The dynamic shared hosting plans support PHP, Python, Perl, and MySQL. On request, the company can also install more than 250 popular PHP-based programs such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
Automatic daily backups mean your data can be restored in the event of a disaster, but a disk disaster is less likely in the first place due to the use of a RAID array.
Pricing and Support
Szerverem.hu’s shared hosting plans are competitively priced, but the displayed prices exclude VAT, and the costs increase when you buy add-ons.
You can pay in Hungarian forints by bank transfer or PayPal on monthly, quarterly, or annual billing cycles. As far as I can see, there is no money-back guarantee, but VPS plans come with a four-day free trial period. When your current period ends, you can easily switch plans.
Szerverem.hu provides limited self-help resources in the form of a frequently asked questions page. One-to-one customer support can be summoned by telephone, email, fax, or online form. My online form submission received a reasonably rapid reply:
