Based in Spain, Speed2Host is a web hosting provider offering VPS, dedicated web hosting, and domain registration. Intel and Dell hardware are used as well as Plesk control panel. The website indicates a shared Linux plan as well, however, support informed me that the service is currently unavailable.
The server center is in Reading, United Kingdom and the website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
Some of the shared hosting features include:
- Free domain
- SiteLock optional
- Free Let’s encrypt SSL certificate
- RapidSSL optional
Speed2Host lists three shared levels of hosting plans as being available on its website, but at the time of this review all three shared hosting plan links were broken. Once inside the website’s WHM panel, however, there is one shared, Hosting Smart plan, but this plan is currently unavailable as well.
The shared hosting plan lists a domain as being free, but it doesn’t show up that way during checkout, so customers should get in touch with support to clarify this before ordering.
Customers wanting a dedicated server may have interest in Speed2Host’s U.K. based dedicated plans. The entry-level Dell DS 3.0 – 4GB plan features: Dell PowerEdge R210 II, core Intel i3 processor, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD storage, two IPv4 addresses, and 10TB monthly traffic.
SSD is listed as an option for dedicated server plans, but looking at the WHM checkout area, it isn’t clear which, if any, plan includes SSD.
Speed2Host’s website also lists three VPS hosting options: Starter, Business, and Advanced. These plans are listed as allowing 1TB-5TB monthly traffic, 20GB-80GB hard drive storage, and 1GB-4GB of RAM. However, these links are also broken and there are no VPS options in the WHM panel.
Pricing and Support
Pricing for Speed2Host’s services are a little tricky to pin down since much of what is offered on the website isn’t actually available to purchase. However, one shared website hosting plan is priced around average for a basic shared package, and because a free domain is listed as being included, this is a decent value.
Some other top European web hosts offer similar plans for about half this price, but it’s more common to see entry-level plans with prices close to Speed2Host’s. This applies to U.S. web hosts as well. To summarize, Speed2Host’s basic web hosting package is listed at an average price.
You can purchase shared hosting from this provider on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis, without any discounts offered for longer terms. As for the dedicated server plans, their prices vary but are in line with what you’d expect from both European and international providers.
Speed2Host customer support is provided via email and telephone. The contact us link goes to a secure member area. I reached out to sales support via the email address on their website and received a reply later that day.
