Features and Ease of Use
Slim Host is a full-service host that provides shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS, and domain registration. Its shared hosting plans come with the following core features:
- High uptime guarantee
- Daily backups retained for seven days
- Free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate
- Domain registration available
- Up to 50 websites
- Up to 15 GB SSD disk space
- Unlimited website traffic
Slim Host owns and operates its own Ukrainian Tier III data center, which should mean less than 1.6 hours of downtime per year as well as rapid responses to technical issues. International customers can also rent equipment in a German or U.S. data center.
Hosting plans run on SSD storage, which means your website could perform up to 300% faster than if hosted on HDD storage. The provided ‘ISPmanager’ control panel may be less popular than cPanel, but it is reliable.
Expert webmasters will be pleased to see plenty of advanced-level features including unlimited FTP accounts, Cron jobs, and MySQL databases. Also, support for software development tools such as PHP (version 5 through to 7.3), Perl, Python, SSI, and FastCGI.
Beginner webmasters may prefer to explore other options as Slim Host’s website does not advertise a website builder or a one-click installer (and I couldn’t get customer services to confirm otherwise).
Pricing and Support
Slim Host’s plans are well priced even though you get no money-back guarantee and no free domain name. Even the Protected Start base plan comes with 1 GB storage, ten domains, and unlimited traffic, so it’s a comprehensive plan at an affordable price.
The plans can be purchased on one, six, or twelve-month terms, and there’s even a discount for purchasing a longer term up front. What’s more, there’s a free SSL certificate with the plans plus one free month thrown in.
Customer service can be accessed by telephone, ticket, live chat, and email from 10 am to midnight, although the reseller pages also hint at 24/7 technical support. My customer service experience was disappointing. Live chat was offline at 8 am on a weekday morning, so I sent an email that received no reply. It’s fortunate, then, that the Slim Host website includes video tutorials and FAQs that might help you to support yourself.
