SetraHost was established by a group of web developers in 2005, to offer affordable hosting solutions without trapping you into ever-increasing costs. This provider has servers in Las Vegas, Texas, and France, and it offers a range of services, including shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, reseller hosting, domain services, and SSL.
SetraHost’s website supports English, but its WHMCompleteSolution-powered cart area supports twenty-five additional languages.
Features and Ease of Use
SetraHost offers three shared hosting plans, three managed WordPress hosting plans, and three reseller hosting plans. The three shared hosting plans provide you with:
- One to unlimited hosted domains
- cPanel control panel
- 10 GB to unlimited NVMe SSD Storage
- 100 GB to unmetered monthly bandwidth
- Free SSL
- Daily backups
You get the feature-packed SitePad website builder for free, so you can create your website from 350+ responsive themes, no coding required. Alternatively, the one-click app installer lets you install more than 400 CMS and other apps, including WordPress.
Since the shared hosting plans are optimized for WordPress websites, you can expect a 30-fold performance improvement compared with other kinds of hosting. Other performance improvements are provided by LiteSpeed WebServer, Cloudflare Railgun, and SSD NVMe storage.
The enterprise-level DDoS protection and anti-malware system combine to help secure your site against malicious attacks. The stated 99.9% uptime is just average for the industry, but this host’s uptime page showed uptime of up to 99.993% for the previous seven days when I looked.
Pricing and Support
SetraHost’s shared hosting plans might seem slightly pricey, but they actually offer good value considering the unlimited resources you get, such as MySQL databases, subdomains, email addresses, and FTP accounts.
Pay for your plan (priced in U.S. dollars) using PayPal or a credit card on a monthly, annual, or triennial billing cycle. You get a free domain when you choose triennial billing on the Starter and Evolve plans or when you choose yearly billing on the Business plan. The longer the commitment, the bigger the discount, and the 30-day money-back guarantee (with its implicit “get out” opportunity) might make you feel better about making a commitment.
You should be able to summon 24/7 customer support via telephone, ticket, email, or online form, but my test ticket submission received no response. If you have to resort to self-support, you will find a sparsely-populated knowledge base:
How much does SetraHost cost?
SetraHost offers plans from $3 to $9. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which SetraHost plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. SetraHost can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from SetraHost here.
How good is SetraHost’s customer support?
SetraHost is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of SetraHost being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
