SBB Review 2024 – Do You Believe the Uptime Guarantee?

Mark Holden Written by: Mark Holden

SBB is a Serbian hosting provider with a 99.99% uptime guarantee. Whilst not suited to users who want lots of added value or 24/7 customer support, you’ll get a solid host backed by a large international company. Before you make any final decisions, you should check out Hostinger’s cheap plans.1

Overview

image2 11
SBB is a small hosting company that simply isn’t a match for big brands like Hostinger. The bigger hosting companies simply offer a better price for similar configuration.

Founded in 2002, SBB is a communications company that also sells website hosting services. It’s part of the larger United Group that provides services in the six countries of the former Yugoslavia. Using its own data centers located in Belgrade, Sarajevo, and Ljubljana, this host provides 99.99% guaranteed uptime. SSB’s entry point website is in Serbian, but its purchase links lead to pages on an associated website that is also available in English . They have large Facebook following, too.

Features and Ease of Use

SBB offers much more than merely hosting, but their shared hosting plans, in particular, come with the following core features:

  • 99.99% uptime guarantee
  • Automatic backups
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Domain registration available
  • 5, 10, or 15 add-on domains
  • 10 GB to 30 GB of SSD storage
  • 600 GB, 900 GB, or 1.2 TB bandwidth

SBB uses (but doesn’t own) a data center in Belgrade, which is ISO 27001 certified and Tier III compliant so you can expect less than 1.6 hours of downtime per year. You get guaranteed 99.99% uptime backed by a service level agreement.

SSB’s hosting plans all run on SSDs for disk read/write times up to ten times faster than conventional hard disk drives. You can choose between Windows hosting, Linux hosting, and shared cPanel hosting. Most people will probably pick the latter.

All shared hosting plans include the premium Softaculous one-click installer, which offers more than 400 scripts. Additionally, you receive a Google AdWords gift voucher, MySQL databases, FTP accounts, and technical support. PHP versions 5 through 7 are supported, as well as Cron jobs (in the highest priced package) and WordPress compatibility. However, SBB’s additional features are somewhat limited, and it would be great to have support for advanced coding languages like Ruby or Python.

Pricing and Support

The prices are low, but that’s only to be expected for the low level of additional features. Domain registration costs extra, whilst SSL certificates are included in all hosting plans. Plans can be bought with one-month or one-year terms, and the price drops when you purchase a yearly plan.

There are two levels of support: Standard and Premium. Standard support is available between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Saturdays. Premium support is 24/7 by email or phone. Only managed accounts, private cloud, and dedicated server rentals get premium support so you won’t get any help outside of business hours if you’re a shared hosting customer. My own experience is that having contacted the company myself, the support agent was not that helpful and did not resolve my issue.

SBB REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

SSB offers affordable Serbian hosting in Tier III data centers with a rock solid 99.99% uptime guarantee. The main downsides are the confusing switching between different SSB websites and the lack of “premium support” for shared hosting customers.

SSB might offer a good service at a reasonable price, but does it match up with the top web hosting companies? We find it hard to say “yes.”

Pros

  • Affordable plans
  • A free SSL certificate with all plans
  • 99.99% uptime guarantee backed by SLA
  • Tier III data centers

Cons

  • Customer service could be better
  • Limited extra features
