Overview

rxname main1

Ukrainian hosting provider RX-NAME has been in business since 2001 and has some big names on its books such as Nissan and BMW. They own their own data center, and their website can be switched between Ukrainian, English, and Russian languages.

Features and Ease of Use

rxname (1)

RX-NAME offers a wide range of hosting services including shared hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated hosting, as well as SSL certificates and domain registration. Here are some of the core features included in their shared hosting plans:

  • 99.9% uptime guarantee
  • Backups to Dropbox
  • Free .com, .net, .xyz domain registration with annual plans
  • One, ten or unlimited add-on domains
  • Free Let’s Encrypt or Comodo SSL certificate
  • Unlimited storage and bandwidth

RX-NAME owns its data center, which is always nice (and quite rare) to see. It means they will be able to respond to issues quickly, and there is less concern that your website speed will be lower due to overselling of bandwidth. They commit to a 99.9% uptime, although it’s not backed by a service level agreement.

Their technology is pretty solid; they use robust Dell and Hewlett-Packard servers and hybrid solid-state disk drives for faster disk read/write times. For shared hosting, they use the Plesk Onyx control panel, and for virtual private servers, they use an in-house control panel.

RX-NAME offers three shared hosting packages: Basic, Business, and Studio. All of the plans come with unlimited disk space and bandwidth, but there are no details about what kind of “fair use” this is subject to.

The main difference between the plans is the number of websites, which is one website on the Basic plan, ten websites on the Business plan, and unlimited websites on the Studio plan. The number of MySQL databases are two, ten and unlimited respectively. You can have two FTP users on the Basic plan, and unlimited FTP users on both the Business and Studio plans. Overall, the resource quotas are generous.

The value-adds don’t stop there. What’s nice about RX-NAME is the features they include for both beginners and experts. Beginners get a one-click installer (for an unspecified number of programs), website statistics, and CMS installations (WordPress, Joomla! or Drupal) with all plans. Experts get access to FTP, phpMyAdmin, SSH, and Cron jobs, plus support for PHP (up to version 7.1) as well as Python and Perl. All plans come with a free Cloudflare CDN.

Pricing and Support

The prices are good value for money considering the high level of resources and features. If you only need one domain (with unlimited subdomains), the Basic package is a bargain. It comes with a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate whereas both of the higher packages come with a Comodo SSL certificate. A free .com, .net or .xyz domain comes with annual Studio plans.

This company not only provides monthly plans but also offers a good discount and a 30-day money-back guarantee if you choose to pay for a year upfront.

The RX-NAME website has a large FAQ section and a client area which requires logging in. And they offer 24/7 customer service by telephone, email, and live chat. I’ve contacted them a few times on live chat, and – apart from one time – they have picked up straight away and been very helpful.
