Since its founding in April 2004, redIT and has expanded from a single IBM eServer to now owning reliable equipment in three U.K. data centers. This company provides thousands of customers with virtual private servers, dedicated servers, domains, and SSL certificates.
The redIT website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
redIT offers three shared Linux web hosting plans powered by CentOS and PHP. These plans include the following features:
- Nightly backups
- 99% uptime guarantee
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Unlimited domains
- Unlimited databases
- Unlimited email accounts
- Unlimited FTP accounts
All hosting plans include support for multiple PHP versions, free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates, and storage ranging from 2 GB to 50 GB. In the event that you outgrow your allocated storage, it is possible to expand it.
ISPsystem’s ISPmanager control panel is provided for you to manage your hosting. This control panel is packed with features to maintain your websites, servers, backups, emails, and domains. You also get SSH access so you can log in and manage your hosting remotely.
If you’re not too technically savvy, you’ll be pleased to see the Script Installation Wizard that facilitates the installation of popular CMS applications such as Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, phpBB, and Prestashop.
Pricing and Support
redIT provides shared Linux web hosting plans at reasonable prices, well within the reach of most potential purchasers, and good value-for-money for the features and resources you get.
SSL certificates can be purchased separately (via redIT) from the likes of AlphaSSL and GlobalSign. The AlphaSSL certificates are cheaper than the GlobalSign ones, but you don’t need to purchase either of them if you’re happy with the free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate.
You can pay for hosting plans by PayPal, credit/debit card, U.K. direct debit, Bitcoins or Altcoins. Available billing cycles are monthly, quarterly, and yearly, with discounts of about 15% for the annual commitments. You can sign up for a year safe in the knowledge that the 30-day money-back guarantee should get you out if anything goes wrong within the first few weeks.
You can contact redIT’s support agents via telephone, support ticket, email, or live chat. I was pleased to see that a support agent joined my live chat within a minute of me making contact on a Sunday evening.
For self-support, redIt provides a sparsely populated knowledge base within its support portal:
How much does redIT cost?
redIT offers plans from $1.38 to $4.34. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which redIT plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. redIT can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from redIT.
How good is redIT’s customer support?
redIT is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of redIT being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
