RaXa Mexico was established in 1997 to provide graphic design, screen printing, and traditional offset and finishes for graphic arts. In 2006, it started offering web hosting on .mx domains, and between 2007 and 2009, it added Icecast and SHOUTcast audio and video streaming servers with reseller services.

In 2015, Raxa enabled its servers to be updated without rebooting, and in 2018 it optimized its support channels for global clients. In 2019, it added elastic web hosting, which it offers today along with basic web hosting, domain services, and SSL certificates.

Features and Ease of Use

RaXa offers four basic web hosting plans plus four professional elastic hosting plans that provide guaranteed resources. The four basic shared hosting plans come with:

  • CloudLinux OS
  • 1 to unlimited websites
  • Free domain with annual billing or above
  • cPanel control panel in Spanish
  • 1 to 2 CPUs
  • 512 MB to 2 GB RAM
  • 30 GB to unlimited disk space
  • Free traffic
  • 5 to unlimited email accounts
  • 1 to unlimited MySQL databases
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Multi-version PHP support
  • Weekly backups
  • DDoS protection

An included one-click installer helps you install 200+ applications, or you can use the RVsitebuilder website builder to create a professional-looking website via a drag-and-drop interface; no coding required.

The professional hosting plans may be more suitable for high-traffic websites and online stores. For example, the Stratus plan could be good for an online store or virtual classroom, whereas the Cirrus plan could be better for a WordPress blog or Joomla website.

The LiteSpeed webserver, optimized for WordPress, ensures peak performance. To guarantee security, we combine CageFS, KernelCare, and Immunity360.

Pricing and Support

RaXa’s shared hosting plans are competitively priced until you add the installation fee for short term (monthly or quarterly) billing cycles. This can be avoided by choosing a longer billing cycle of up to triennial.

You can pay for plans in Mexican pesos by PayPal, bank transfer, Western Union, credit/debit cards, or at some convenience stores. While the hosting plan page alludes to a 30-day refund window, the terms-of-service page describes a longer 45-day money-back guarantee. Either way, you’ll get at least a month to change your mind and get your money back.

I did try to get clarification, but I was unable to summon a pre-sales support response. You might have better luck when you try to contact the customer support team by telephone, live chat, or online contact form. If all else fails, the self-support knowledge base is surprisingly comprehensive:

RaXa Mexico REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

For competitively priced Mexican shared hosting with a free domain and several user-friendly features, RaXa’s plans could be worth checking out. However, I’d feel better about this host if I’d been able to summon a pre-sales support response.

Pros

  • 13 years of hosting experience
  • Competitively priced shared hosting
  • Free domain
  • 30-day or 45-day refund window

Cons

  • Several website links don’t work
  • No pre-sales support response
