RackDedicated is a web hosting “old hand” that has been around for almost a quarter of a century.
This American company’s servers sit in Turkey, the Netherlands, Singapore, France, and the U.S.A. Its English-language website presents prices in U.S. dollars and sells dedicated servers plus VPS/VDS solutions.
Features and Ease of Use
RackDedicated’s 12 VPS/VDS servers allow you to choose your server location (Istanbul or U.S.A) and operating system (Windows, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu). The standard features you get with these servers are:
- 99.9% guaranteed uptime
- SSD storage
- VMware virtualization
- One useable IP address
The smallest plan offers 25 GB of pure SSD storage, 2 GB RAM, 2 TB bandwidth, and 1 vCPU, making it ideal for small businesses that generate light traffic. On the opposite side, the largest plan supplies 150 GB of pure SSD storage, 16 GB RAM, 7 TB bandwidth, and 6 vCPUs, catering effectively to large websites experiencing heavy traffic.
In all cases, the SSD storage is far faster and more reliable than traditional HDD storage.
If you want something more than a virtual server, you can choose one of RackDedicated’s single-, dual-, and quad-core dedicated servers located in the U.S.A, Amsterdam, or Istanbul.
Pricing and Support
RackDedicated’s prices range from cheap to expensive, but you get what you pay for because the more expensive plans include higher resources. You can pay monthly or annually by bank transfer, credit card, or cash. There are no refunds for services, but this is not that unusual for virtual and dedicated servers.
Although 24/7 support via live chat and email is advertised, I found that live chat was offline and my exploratory email went unanswered. Other contact methods include telephone and support tickets (for current customers).
For self-support, there is a minimal knowledge base that might not be too much use to you, but this is typical of virtual and dedicated server providers.
