U.S.-based Ourweb was founded by one man in 1995 (the very early days of the world wide web), and it might still be a “one man band” as far as I know. The “old school” English language website suggests so.
Ourweb’s servers are located in Haverhill, Massachusetts, in the United States.
Features and Ease of Use
In addition to web hosting, Ourweb offers application development, web design, SEO, WordPress, and other web-related services. Some of the standard features you can expect to find in the hosting packages include:
- cPanel/WHM control panel
- Unlimited FTP and email
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Unlimited subdomains
- Free site migration
- MySQL databases
- Unlimited parked domains and addon domains
- Unlimited FTP accounts
- SSL certificates
- CGI & Perl script support
Ourweb’s shared hosting solutions come in four flavors: two Linux and two Windows plans.
The Linux ‘Beginner’ package comes with 1 GB disk space, 75 GB bandwidth, unlimited subdomains, and unlimited FTP accounts. The Linux ‘Advance’ package comes with 10 GB disk space, 200 GB bandwidth, unlimited subdomains, and unlimited FTP accounts.
The Windows ‘Starters’ package includes 5 MB disk space, 75 GB bandwidth, and 3 subdomains. The Windows ‘Basic’ package comes with 500 MB disk space, 200 GB bandwidth, and unlimited subdomains.
Alternatively, you can choose to be quoted for a customized hosting solution that allows you to specify the features and resources you require, or you can go for an e-commerce hosting solution that uses WordPress/WooCommerce.
All hosting packages include a backup and restore tool and a free SSL certificate. Both shared hosting and reseller hosting can be managed using the cPanel/WHM control panel.
Ourweb uses modern infrastructure that includes RAID-protected redundant and scalable servers. They use Dual Xeon Quad Core processors for reliability and high performance.
Pricing and Support
Ourweb’s hosting solutions are reasonably priced considering the features and resources they come with. You get free setup and a 99.9% uptime guarantee (which is a bit below the industry average).
The advertised prices seem to be the same for monthly and yearly sign-ups, but it looks like you can save 17% on annual commitments at the checkout. The 30-day money-back guarantee (which should get you out if anything goes wrong within the first month) should make you feel better about making an annual commitment.
Ourweb promotes 24/7/365 technical support through telephone, ticket system, live chat, or email. However, it seems that the live chat is almost always offline, indicating that it may be just a placeholder. Additionally, I did not receive a reply to my exploratory email.
There is no knowledge base to help you support yourself.
