Naunet SP has been in business since 2005 and has a mission to create new products for work, leisure, and entertainment industries. This Russian provider advertises itself as a “one-stop shop” for integrated internet solutions. It sells domain registration and website hosting from its Russian language website.
Features and Ease of Use
Naunet is a full service hosting company selling shared hosting plans that come with the following core features:
- Daily backups, retained for 7 days
- Domain registration available
- Up to ten add-on domains
- SSL certificates available
- Up to 10 GB disk space
- Unlimited traffic per month
Beginners can benefit from the Fantastico one-click installer (either the Standard or Full version, depending on your package). You can also easily install various software packages such as osCommerce, Drupal or Zen Cart.
More advanced customers will find excellent support for advanced scripting languages including Python, Ruby, and the “old school” Perl and CGI. You also get Cron jobs and SSH access, plus the usual hosting features such as phpMyAdmin, MySQL databases, FTP accounts, and support for PHP (older versions 4 and 5).
The hosting plans use the popular cPanel control panel or the in-house ‘Naunet’ control panel.
It’s a bit surprising that the provider’s website doesn’t mention any uptime guarantee or provide information about average uptime (and I couldn’t confirm it with support either).
Pricing and Support
Most of the plans are relatively well-priced, especially if you are primarily interested in advanced coding languages. There are various deals on domain names, depending on which plan or contract length you opt for, but you will need to purchase an SSL certificate.
The plans come on terms ranging from one month to one year, and the prices are lower for a longer term commitment. But the price doesn’t reduce if you buy the in-house control panel plan that is already by far the cheapest plan.
Customer service can be obtained via email and phone directed to the billing, support, or technical departments. I received no reply when I contacted the company by email to ask about any uptime guarantee. For self-support purposes, there are FAQs and some substantial manuals about the control panels.
