Features and Ease of Use
ISG offers a full range of website hosting packages including colocation, dedicated server rental, shared website hosting, system administration, and application development.
As standard, their shared hosting plans include the following features:
- Domain registration available at additional cost
- From one to twenty add-on domains
- Free SSL certificate for one year
- From 500 MB to 200,000 MB disk space
ISG is a little unusual in not advertising any uptime guarantee, uptime SLA, or even an average uptime. Therefore, you might want to check another provider with uptime guarantee, such as DeleteZero. They also do not say much about their servers or infrastructure. But on the software side, they do state that they install and use the LAMP web service stack, which means a scalable, customizable, platform-independent, highly-secure application architecture that is compatible with many open source libraries and frameworks. It combines Linux, Apache web server, MySQL database, and PHP for fast and free software development.
Whilst beginners might find ISG’s website a little complex and hard to understand, especially if you don’t speak Slovenian, more advanced users will appreciate the support for SSH, FTP, SMTP (Auth) and MySQL. They support the slower PHP 5.3 (rather than the faster PHP 7.2), and unfortunately, they don’t support advanced scripting languages such as Ruby on Rails, Javascript or Python.
Pricing and Support
Compared to international companies, ISG is quite expensive, but its prices are on par with other Slovenian providers. In addition to the base website hosting fee, there are extra charges for SSL certificates, domain registration, and a dedicated IP address. These additional costs may be acceptable to customers who specifically seek a Slovenian web hosting company.
Prices do not include VAT, so don’t be surprised if the checkout prices are higher than the advertised rates. Unless your monthly fee comes to more than 20 euros, the minimum contract term is six months, which is not easy to mitigate since there is no free trial, no free plan, and no money-back guarantee.
At the time of writing, the link to their online contact form seems not to be working, so the only option is to telephone them for sales support between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. They also offer a 24-hour ‘hotline’ telephone number for network error reporting, and they say that “new tenants are entitled to one-time free system-wide support within 60 minutes and free installation of the operating system.”
