Hostibox is a web hosting company that has been in operation for over four years. It’s part of the Hostibox International Group, a web hosting, web development, and marketing company with servers located in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Singapore, and Germany.
Its website has an English and a French version, but its French version seems to be the shared hosting part of the company while the English version is for VPS.
Features and Ease of Use
Hostibox offers four VPS plans with the following features:
- 100% uptime SLA
- Anywhere from 512MB to 4096MB RAM
- Up to 80GB SSD
- One, two, or four vCPU
Hostibox supports a plethora of operating systems. You can pick your own OS and install it on your server. It uses KVM virtualization, which simulates hardware since the virtualization is done at the server level. Like a bare metal, you can install whatever OS and application you want.
As such, if you want, you can set up WordPress or use any operating system of your choice. This is great, but if you’re new to hosting, you should look elsewhere as the process of setting up everything you need requires detailed knowledge. You’ll have to set your OS and your control panel before even thinking of any application or programming script you want.
Fortunately, Hostibox provides OS templates for Windows and Linux that help you with the first process to an extent.
You can use your VPS as storage or use it to host your website/application files. It’s all up to you. Hostibox also provides email accounts with address books, calendars, and other business features.
Hostibox provides security against DDoS attacks and brute force. Also, there are load balancers powered by NGINX and Varnish in the servers to ensure that your server isn’t overwhelmed when you have a spike in traffic or activity.
There’s data security with encryption to ensure that only you can access your file, along with redundancy with Ceph.
Pricing and Support
Hostibox offers low prices for both VPS and web hosting (on the French version). Its prices are displayed in dollars and you can pay for one month at a time. You can’t order directly on its website as the “buy now” link in the English version doesn’t work, while that of the French version directs to an email address.
They don’t offer a free trial or free version, and there’s no money-back guarantee. The vendor says they accept all major credit cards, bank transfer, Western Union, Bitcoin, MVola, and Orange Money, so they should have an online processor they use.
Customer support is available via phone and ticket 24/7. There’s no knowledge base for technical support, but you can check out its FAQ for answers to questions about billing, and its blog for a few tutorials. I submitted a ticket and never got a reply.
