HostFlix is a web hosting company with a website in Portuguese and servers in Canada. Its hosting is geared towards small businesses and individuals looking to get online. There’s shared hosting and cloud hosting for those and a few medium-sized businesses. The company also offers SSL certificates, Sitelock, and domain services.
Features and Ease of Use
HostFlix offers four shared hosting plans with these features:
- 99.99% uptime guarantee
- Weekly automatic backup
- Free SSL certificate
- Three or five add-on domains
- Unlimited monthly traffic
- Anywhere from 30GB to unlimited storage
Beginners to web hosting need an easy to use system in order to manage their accounts. With a clunky control panel, things will be way harder than they need to be. HostFlix knows this, so it provides cPanel control panel for easy management of features and settings.
The company’s beginner friendliness doesn’t end there, it offers an auto-installer as well. This is a relevant feature for customers looking to use a web application or content management system. The installer can help you set up WordPress, Magento, and a host of other applications with just a few clicks of your mouse.
Furthermore, HostFlix provides a website builder with pre-made templates. The SitePad builder comes with a drag-and-drop tool and tons of widgets. If you’re looking to code your website, it supports PHP too.
HostFlix provides email accounts with ClamAV anti-virus and Apache spam assassin for protection against spam emails. Also, it provides hotlink protection and an IP blocker. That, along with SSD and its hardware optimization, improve the hosting experience.
The cloud hosting plans offer more features, including standalone RAM, automatic failover, (DDOS) protection, and instant scaling.
Pricing and Support
HostFlix provides affordable shared hosting plans. It allows one month payments, but if you are willing to pay for a year at a time, you’ll get 15% off. You could also pay for three months, six months, two years, or three years.
The company has some upsells – SiteLock protection and SSL certificates, but there are some that don’t make much sense. For example, it offers cPanel for a fee as though it’s another feature outside of the free hosting features. There’s also WordPress installation when there’s an automatic installer. It’s almost like they’re looking to make money off of features that they are already providing for free.
We do not offer a free plan or trial, but we do provide a money-back guarantee. However, certain conditions apply. If we assist you in transferring your website when you start with us, you will not be eligible for a refund. For other cases, we will deduct an administrative fee before refunding the remaining amount.
It accepts payment through PayPal (for everyone) and PagSeguro and Bank transfer for those in Brazil.
Customer support is available through live chat, tickets, knowledge base, and email. I tried the live chat but it doesn’t seem to work 24/7 as I didn’t get connected to an agent. Instead, I sent an email, but didn’t get a reply despite waiting for more than a week.
