Since starting its journey in 2005, High Quality Hosting (aka. Onyx Hosting) has provided customers with an array of hosting solutions, including shared hosting, VIP hosting (similar to virtual hosting), SSD hosting, and dedicated servers. Its very simple but modern Russian-language website is slightly dysfunctional in the sense that the navigation links don’t work.
Features and Ease of Use
There are four shared hosting packages, four VIP hosting packages, five SSD hosting packages, and three dedicated server packages. The shared hosting packages come with:
- 2 GB to 20 GB storage
- Unlimited traffic
- Unlimited domains
- Unlimited POP3 accounts
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- PHP/CGI/CURL/SSI/SSH/Cron/cPanel/Zend/IonCube
- Error pages
- Mail forwarding and antispam
- Backups
This host’s traffic balancing systems distribute traffic across several servers to spread the load, and RAID 1 disk mirroring helps protect you against disk failure. The DNS editing feature helps you protect yourself against DDoS attacks. You can also edit the .htaccess file to configure your website without having to edit server configuration files.
As an alternative to shared hosting, the VIP hosting offers configurations similar to VPS hosting but serves fewer clients.
Pricing and Support
Shared hosting plans are priced higher than the market average. You can pay for them on billing cycles from monthly to annually, but not all billing cycles are applicable to all packages. Payments can be made in U.S. dollars, Russian rubles, or Ukrainian hryvnia via WebMoney (WMZ), Yandex.Money, or credit card. There is a free hosting package that could afford you an opportunity to try the services before you buy them.
You can access the customer support helpdesk within a limited time window, and technical support 24/7, via contact channels that include email, ICQ, Skype, and a ticket system (requires registration). No telephone number is given, and my exploratory emails went unanswered.
