Vancouver-based Canadian company, Mecca Internet Solutions, trades under the name “Mecca ehosting.ca” (or simply ehosting.ca). This company was founded in 1999, and it currently hosts more than 10,000 websites for personal, business, and corporate customers all around the world. Its old-fashioned website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
Despite a rather lackluster-looking website, ehosting.ca offers all of the usual hosting services, from shared hosting and dedicated servers to domain names and SSL certificates. As standard, the hosting plans provide you with the following features:
- 99.5% network uptime guarantee
- Daily, weekly, and monthly backups (for Site2Go sites)
- Domain registration available
- Up to unlimited add-on domains
- Free shared SSL certificates
- Up to 20 GB web storage
Some of the hosting plans include website building tools, and some don’t. For example, you can purchase the Basic, Starter, or Pro hosting plans, the Site2Go website builder plan, or the Store2Go e-commerce plan.
It’s good to see Windows hosting support, but beware that the “Basic” base plan doesn’t include all the value-added features. Specifically, the base plan is for static HTML sites, so you don’t get a database or support for PHP, ASP, or ASP.NET. Therefore, don’t be fooled by the cheap price point, since it’s highly likely you will need to upgrade.
Pricing and Support
Although the base plan comes at a low price, we should dismiss it since it only supports static HTML sites. The higher plans for dynamic websites are priced less attractively, but you can take advantage of promotions that reduce the costs of these plans.
Supposedly 24/7 customer service can be summoned by telephone or email, except that you are promised an email response within one working day. The alternative live chat turned out not to be available at the time I wanted to try it, despite being advertised as available “anytime, anywhere.”
