Founded in 2004, EasyNet Interactive is a Malaysia-based website hosting provider with servers located in data centers located around the world in central Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dallas (Texas, U.S.A.), and Lansing (Michigan, U.S.A.). EasyNet Interactive is focused on a policy of not overselling server space. The EasyNet Interactive website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
EasyNet Interactive provides shared website hosting, dedicated website hosting, and reseller website hosting and colocation. They also offer domain services, managed DNS, SSL certificates, and website development.
Customers who purchase shared hosting enjoy the following features as standard:
- 99.9% network uptime, excluding scheduled maintenance
- On-site and off-site backup: daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Domain registration available as an optional add-on
- From two to five add-on domains
- SSL certificates and Whois protection available as add-ons
- 4 GB to 10 GB disk space
- 20 GB to 70 GB bandwidth
Unique to EasyNet Interactive is their dedication to not overselling their servers. Unlike lots of other companies, they do not offer unlimited disk space or bandwidth. Instead, they offer four clearly defined packages with specific quotas on usage. It’s really easy for the customer to understand what they are purchasing, and it’s really easy for EasyNet to make sure they never oversell their server space. Everybody wins!
They offer a few nice features for beginners, although I feel like they could offer more value. They provide the Softaculous one-click installer (although they don’t mention the number of scripts it supports), and they include antivirus and spam filters without any additional charges. While these features are good, they could offer and explain more about their services.
Pricing and Support
It’s a shame that EasyNet Interactive only offers annual pricing. Ideally, I’d like to see a no-obligation monthly contract or a discount for longer terms.
That said, the prices are good. They are comparable with international providers and lower than other Malaysian companies. I’m happy to compromise on contract length as the prices are well positioned.
On their website, they claim to have no hidden fees. While I agree the costs are not hidden, there are certainly add-on fees. There is no setup fee, which is great, but SSL certificates and domain registration both incur additional costs. They do not offer a free trial, but they do offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Sadly, EasyNet Interactive does not offer a large range of customer service options. They offer only telephone support, email support, and a Twitter feed. And their business hours for support are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. This may be sufficient for a small website owner, but I would personally like to see extended hours and a live chat option. They are also let down by the lack of help documentation on their website.
