Easyhost has been providing Romanian website hosting since 2006. Currently, it hosts more than 100,000 websites to clients in Romania, Europe, and the U.S. The website is available in English and Romanian, as is the support.
Features and Ease of Use
Easyhost offers a comprehensive range of hosting services including shared hosting plans, which come with the following core features:
- 99.99% uptime guarantee
- Automatic daily backups
- Domain registration available
- One, three, or unlimited add-on domains
- Free SSL certificate (most plans)
- Unlimited disk space and traffic
Easyhost has its servers co-located in Tier III and Tier IV data centers, which means less than 1.6 hours or 26 minutes of downtime per year year, respectively. There is also an uptime guarantee of between 99.9% and 99.99% dependent on the type of service you sign up for.
The hardware is robust Cisco and HP and the control panel is the reliable and easy to use cPanel, as well as having SSD storage, which is ten times faster than traditional HDD.
There are a few unusual value adds; speed five times faster “than before”, error rate reduced by 72%, and weekly monitoring and optimization recommendations. These all sound great on paper, however, I’m not totally clear on how these claims are met.
For ease of use, Easyhost offers free website migrations and automatic daily backups, however, it’s less clear whether there are features such as a one-click installer or a website building tool (I tried to confirm with support but did not get confirmation).
Finally, unless you choose the cheapest plan, you’ll get a “Speed Boost” which caches your site’s static elements and compresses the larger elements that usually slow down load, and “Who’s Visiting” which I assume is some form of analytics for your website, although it’s not explicit.
Pricing and Support
The plans are well priced (if you get a two year term), especially considering that all packages come with unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth, as well as a free Let’s Encrypt certificate. You do still need to purchase a domain name.
You can purchase the plans in terms ranging from one month to three years. However, the catch is, all terms less than two years are pricey, so to benefit from the best pricing, you need to take a lengthy two or three year term.
Customer service operates 24/7/365, but it is only available through a limited number of channels, such as email. What’s even more frustrating is that you may have to wait up to two business days to receive a response.
I sent an email midday on a weekday and waited for three business days without a response. It’s a shame because there aren’t even any help documents to refer to while you wait.
