DevonWebs was founded in 2010 to provide web hosting services to small and medium-sized businesses. These services include domain registration, shared hosting, reseller hosting, and cloud servers. Its data center is located in the United Kingdom and its website is in English.
Features and Ease of Use
DevonWebs offers four kinds of shared plans; WordPress plans, Web hosting plans, Windows plans, and Windows Plesk plans. All of these have features that include the following:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free SSL certificate
- Daily automatic backups
- From 5GB to unlimited disk space
- Unlimited bandwidth
The WordPress and Web hosting plans are Linux-based and support PHP programming language. They come with MySQL/MariaDB databases as well as phpMyAdmin access. The Plesk Windows plans come with CloudLinux stability. With the Windows and Windows Plesk plans, supported languages include PHP and ASP.NET. It comes with both MySQL and MSSQL databases.
The main difference between the Windows Plesk plans and the Windows plans is that the latter is hosted on the cloud and you have to pay extra for MSSQL databases.
For the Linux based plans, Nginx web server is used along with Stack caching tool for fast loading times, while the Windows-based plans come with Nginx and Litespeed combination.
DevonWebs offers a custom control panel for the Windows plans. Other plans come with Plesk and cPanel control panels depending on the OS on offer; cPanel only for Linux plans as it doesn’t support Windows.
These plans offer the capability for automatic installation of web scripts. You have the option to install numerous popular CMS, E-commerce applications, and frameworks. In the case of WordPress plans, you also have the ability to automate the updating process for your themes and plugins. This feature holds significant importance as the absence of updates can have a detrimental effect on the performance of your WordPress website.
All plans come with amazing security features like brute force and DDoS protection, web application firewall (WAF), ModSecurity, malware scanning, cageFS, and Toolkit security for WordPress.
It uses SSD, which is known for having a high performance and offering durability. Its SSD is combined with RAID 10 configuration to ensure further security of data.
Pricing and Support
All plans on the WordPress platform are cheap, making them the most affordable. This is closely followed by the Windows Plesk plans, with prices that differ on the website and store page. The other two hosting categories only offer cheap prices on their base plans, the other plans are slightly expensive.
Subscriptions can be monthly or annually, while billing methods include direct debit, Stripe, bank transfer, and PayPal. The vendor offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all its plans, and free domain registration comes with some of the plans. It also offers free migration service on all plans.
DevonWebs provides support to its clients through live chat, knowledge base with tutorials, phone, email, and ticketing system. I used its live chat platform, but the support staff did not seem very knowledgeable about their services.
