Although Datatan was founded in 2004, it began offering web hosting services in 2005. Under its web hosting services, it offers domain registration, shared hosting, reseller hosting, virtual private server, server rental, and SSL certificates. Its website is available in Thai.
Features and Ease of Use
Datatan offers a total of fourteen shared hosting plans. Seven of these plans are for single domains, while the other seven are for multi-domains. The features of these plans include:
- From 800MB to 70GB disk space
- Unlimited disk space
- Daily backups
- Between one to 70 domains
All shared hosting plans come with an unlimited number of MySQL databases so that you can set up a dynamic website and use as many databases as you require. To program the website, it supports PHP, AJAX, XML, SSI, Perl, Node.js, Phalcon, and Laravel.
The vendor utilizes Xcache to accelerate PHP performance, increases the rate of the page generation, and decrease the server load. Also, it uses Varnish Cache, a reverse proxy HTTP accelerator, to cache content very fast. Then, there are the Zend Optimizer and ionCube Loader tools, both of which optimize website speed.
After development, one thing is essential, and that’s deploying your website to your hosting account/server. Datatan offers the DirectAdmin control panel to enable you do this through its file manager. It also allows the creation of unlimited FTP accounts.
DirectAdmin is quite easy to use, but there’s no mention of a one-click installer. The control panel does have modules for that, so you might end up getting an installer.
Pricing and Support
In the shopping cart, Datatan displays prices in both Thai Baht and United States dollars. The single-domain plans, along with select multi-domain plans, offer budget-friendly and affordable options. On the other hand, the larger multi-domain plans are considered costly and are better suited for sizable organizations. Datatan provides ten plans that include a complimentary domain registration for specific extensions.
This hosting provider offers only an annual billing cycle, making even the cheap plans seem expensive. Irrespective of the plan you choose, you’ll have to pay for a full year, which is quite discouraging. Its billing methods include bank transfer, PayPal, True Money cash card, Rabbit LINE Pay, and PromptPay service.
Its client support is available through phone, email, knowledge base, and Skype. There is also a Facebook Messenger link substituted for a live chat platform on the website. However, this is limiting as not all clients may be registered users of Facebook or want to use it. I sent an email but the response I got in no way related to the questions I asked.
