To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.

Amhost is a hosting brand of Scottish company Europa Enterprise L.P. It resells a range of services provided by the likes of Leaseweb, Midphase, Gigenet, and Poundhost. It isn’t clear when the company was founded, but it apparently has more than 11 years of experience.

Amhost’s website is available in English and Russian.

Features and Ease of Use

Amhost offers a full suite of hosting services, including shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, and domain registration (via a third party website). It resells hosting services provided by data centers in 40 different locations around the world, so you can choose the closest data center to your customers. However, you should also consider the implications of resold hosting, such as:

  • Are the resources being oversold?
  • How quickly will the company respond in the event of an issue?

In this context, it’s important to note that Amhost doesn’t offer an uptime guarantee.

Hosting plans provide the following features:

  • Automatic backups available
  • Domain registration available
  • Up to 50 add-on domains
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Up to 2000 GB monthly traffic

Beginners may be pleased to see the Installatron one-click installer for popular programs like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and Magento. However, only 12 such programs can be installed, which is pretty low compared with the number of installation scripts you usually get with the alternative Softaculous installer.

Amhost offers some unusual SEO features. For example, you can purchase hosting packages that allow you to choose from 4 to 24 locations with different IP addresses.

Pricing and Support

Amhost’s decent range of hosting products start very affordable. When you’re ready to scale up, you will find larger (more expensive) shared hosting plans and dedicated servers. You get a free SSL certificate with your hosting, but a domain name and CDN will cost you extra. The 30-day money-back guarantee should get you out of your contract if anything goes wrong within the first few weeks.

For technical support, Amhost prefers you to contact the company by submitting a ticket. For pre-sales support, you can use email, live chat, or Skype. I received rapid, polite responses when I contacted the team a couple of times via live chat:

If you’re looking for self-support, you’ll be disappointed to discover that there’s only a limited F.A.Q. section and no publicly accessible knowledge base.

Amhost REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

Amhost’s website includes several broken links, particularly to its social media pages. However, its live chat support agents are attentive. The hosting packages are okay, not groundbreaking, but could be considered if you’re looking for a no-frills, affordable plan with some potential SEO benefits.
