These days, a one-size-fits-all approach to hosting plans is not always the best choice. We spoke with
VPSBlocks about their pay-for-resources plans that allow users to completely customize their servers by specifying their desired CPU Cores, RAM, SSD Disk and SATA/Backup Disk. Since these resources are not tied to each other or to specific plans, customers can run as little or as much of each resource as they need.
What features are available with your hosting plans?
We are a cloud server provider, providing virtual private servers running Windows, Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, cPanel or Plesk.
We also run cloudlets.com.au which offers the Jelastic platform in Australia. This provides a one-click marketplace hosting for PHP such as WordPress and Magento optimized environments, as well as JAVA, Node.JS, Ruby, Python, Go as well as Docker and Kubernetes.
What operating systems do you offer?
We provide servers running Windows, Ubuntu, Debian and CentOS, as well as container-based hosting through cloudlets.com.au (to be released to the public in November 2019).
What are the advantages to Cloud Hosting over regular hosting?
Our cloud servers provide high availability and self-healing architecture.
How is pricing for your hosting services structured?
Our cloud server products are pay-for-resources so you can completely customize your server using our simple order calculator, by specifying your desired CPU Cores, RAM, SSD Disk and SATA/Backup Disk. Our resources are not tied to each other or to specific plans, so you can run as little or as much of each resource as you like.
Our cloudlets.com.au product is a pay-for-use platform, so you set a reserved limit and a dynamic limit. You pay for the reserved limit each month, and only pay for the dynamic limit when you use it (calculated hourly). Each cloudlet is 256MB of RAM and 400Mhz of CPU. Due to this, customer costs are consistently 30-50% below AWS for the same resource access and provides automatic scaling to your dynamic limit. In this way, your site is online even during heavy or unexpected loads. It also includes load balancing and clustering with a simple click.
Do you offer hosting for any CMS platforms such as WordPress or Joomla?
Yes, our Cloudlets.com.au platform provides one click installation of WordPress and Magento, and a PHP environment for Joomla and other PHP applications. This optimized environment outperforms cPanel servers and provides automatic scaling.
We also provide cPanel servers which are great for web hosts or companies hosting multiple sites looking to keep costs down while keeping the familiar cPanel interface.
What is Self-Healing Failover?
Self-Healing Failover means if a physical machine (node) goes offline for any reason, the Virtual Machines running on that node are automatically mounted on another node and brought back online. This means redundancy for your virtual private server hosted with VPS Blocks.
What type of security do you have to protect users against hackers and other cyber threats?
We use FortiDDOS edge and IPS/IDS firewalls as well as routing all international traffic through an active DDOS scrubbing center. Customers can also configure their own hardware firewall rules in our portal and their local server firewall.
Do you have migration service for customers with existing web sites?
We provide a migration service for customers on cPanel or Plesk.
What type of support is available for your users?
We provide 24/7 ticket support, with phone and live chat during business hours.
