BetterQA’s Approach to Quality Assurance: An Interview with Tudor Brad

Predrag Vlatkovic Written by:
Quality assurance plays a crucial role in software development, yet many companies struggle with effective testing strategies. Today, Tudor Brad, Managing Director at BetterQA, discusses the importance of independent QA, risk management, and how BetterQA helps businesses release high-quality software with confidence. Learn more in his exclusive Website Planet interview below.

Can you give me a brief overview of BetterQA as a company and its founding story?

I founded BetterQA after experiencing the challenges of delivering high-quality software while working with outsourced QA teams. I saw the need for independent, unbiased testing that truly prioritizes quality over deadlines. That’s why I started BetterQA—to ensure transparency in QA processes and help businesses prevent defects rather than just identify them.

BetterQA is headquartered in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, a city known for its vibrant IT community and often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of Eastern Europe.” The company operates in full compliance with EU regulations and has grown into a diverse team of over 50 professionals.

What is your approach to risk management?

At BetterQA, we see risk management as more than just finding bugs—it’s about preventing them before they become costly problems. That’s why we integrate QA early in development, focusing on high-risk areas and critical functionalities.

BetterQA’s independent status means we deliver honest, unbiased insights, helping teams make smart decisions. We combine risk-based testing, automation, and exploratory testing to stay ahead of potential issues, ensuring software that’s not just functional but truly reliable.

What benefits can your clients have from your Cross-Functional Defect Management?

Our Cross-Functional Defect Management is all about making sure defects don’t just get logged and ignored—they actually get fixed. BetterQA acts as the bridge between developers, business analysts, and stakeholders, making sure everyone is on the same page. This cuts down on miscommunication, speeds up issue resolution, and prevents unnecessary rework. It also means fewer bugs slipping through to production, saving time and costs in the long run.

Because we’re an independent QA team, we provide full transparency, ensuring critical issues don’t get pushed aside just to meet deadlines. It helps our clients release more stable, reliable, and user-friendly products.

Why should every software company have a test strategy?

Every software company needs a test strategy because, without one, testing can feel all over the place—inefficient, reactive, and inconsistent. A good strategy keeps everything focused, making sure testing is aligned with business goals and helps prevent issues early instead of just catching them last minute. It also saves a lot of time and money since fixing bugs in production is way more expensive.

It also brings structure, so teams aren’t just scrambling to put out fires but are actually improving quality in a smart, organized way. Bottom line: it’s the difference between hoping your software works and knowing it does.

What can we expect from the company going forward?

Going forward, you can expect us to keep pushing the boundaries of what great QA looks like. We’ll continue delivering independent, transparent, and real testing—not just ticking boxes. At BetterQA, we’re constantly refining our processes, expanding into areas like AI-driven testing, security audits, and accessibility reviews to stay ahead of industry needs.

As we grow our team and strengthen partnerships, our focus remains on helping clients release high-quality software faster and with fewer headaches. Our mission stays the same: making sure software works as it should—so businesses can focus on what they do best.

Can you explain what BetterFlow is and how it helps teams manage projects?
