Today we had the pleasure of interviewing Igor Seletskiy – founder of CloudLinux and creator of
Imunify360 security software. We talked about different security challenges in the web hosting industry, and the solutions his product is offering to its users.
Can you present Imunify360 to our audience?
We started developing Imunify360 about five or six years ago because we understood that security will become more and more important in the web hosting market. We knew that attacks against websites will continue to escalate. What Imunify360 does is fully protect Linux web servers.
We protect all the sites, and we protect the control panel and server itself. We also detect any malware that might be on the server already and we can fully clean up any infections that the server might have.
We will also virtually patch WordPress and WordPress plug-ins so that even if you are running an outdated version of WordPress you are not immediately insecure.
Can you describe the story behind the company? What sparked the idea and how has it evolved so far?
The company is twelve years old, and we started as a Linux distribution for web hosting companies. We understood the problem with “bad apples” where one site could affect all other sites on the server.
We’ve been quite successful with that – the majority of web hosting companies today are using CloudLinux. As a result, we’ve had a lot of clients in the web hosting space and we started seeing more and more requests for the security of the websites.
When we started, the stability of the website was the number one issue, but five or six years ago it was the security of the websites that became a top issue for a lot of hosters. That’s when we decided to start the Imunify project.
What services do you offer?
Imunify360 is software that you would install on your servers that you own or rent from a data center. It combines comprehensive layers that detect and clean malware and then protect your servers from future attacks.
What is the mission of your company?
Our goal is to make sure that hosters and service providers can operate at optimal performance and efficiency. We really try to help everyone in the hosting industry, no matter how big or small, to have an absolutely amazing offering and be able to compete with anyone.
What separates you from other similar websites and companies?
I would say that it’s quality – we have by far the best quality of defense. We are the only company that can defend from virtually all attacks and automatically clean up any malware that you already have on your servers.
Zero-day defense is built in our solution, even those attacks that we don’t know about will be automatically deflected and blocked due to our patent-pending technology.
There are a lot of things we can do that no one else in the market can, and that’s why Imunify360 is the most used solution in the web hosting market.
How do you envision the future of your industry?
We see a lot of consolidation in the industry but there is still growth, especially in developing countries. So we expect the community to stay vibrant and still develop and grow for the next ten years.
