Both HostPapa and GoDaddy offer shared, reseller, VPS, and WordPress hosting. GoDaddy also has dedicated server plans.

With HostPapa’s shared hosting, you can choose from three Linux-based plans. GoDaddy has four Linux packages and three for Windows.

Even though GoDaddy has more web hosting packages, HostPapa has better discounts and cheaper renewal rates. You can choose to be billed annually, biennially, or triennially with HostPapa or monthly, annually, biennially, or triennially, with GoDaddy.

You’ll also get a free domain name with GoDaddy’s plans, but website migration only comes with the WordPress hosting packages. GoDaddy provides a 30-day money-back guarantee with annual plans and a 48-hour refund with monthly subscriptions.

HostPapa is the clear winner of the pricing round with its lower prices, more attractive discounts, and free website transfer.

With GoDaddy’s four shared hosting plans, you get from 100 GB to unlimited HDD storage, 1 to unlimited websites, 10 to unlimited MySQL databases, unmetered bandwidth, and free Office 365 Email (for the first year).

Unlike HostPapa, GoDaddy doesn’t provide a free CDN, and you’ll only get a free SSL certificate with its higher-value plans.

The winner here is HostPapa. Its plans come packed with more premium features and free extras compared to GoDaddy.

3. Performance

HostPapa Has Better Uptime and Faster Page Loading Speeds

All of HostPapa’s servers are in Canada and the U.S.A. as it mainly targets North American customers. GoDaddy operates via two server locations – the U.S.A. and India.

HostPapa uses SSD storage with all its plans, while GoDaddy only uses it with some. SSD performs faster than regular HDD storage.

You’ll get free CDN with all of HostPapa’s plans, but GoDaddy only provides it with its WordPress hosting plans. A CDN (Content Delivery Network) boosts your website’s loading speed by placing it on a global network of cloud servers.

Both HostPapa and GoDaddy promise a 99.9% uptime guarantee. HostPapa exceeds its promise by offering a near-perfect actual uptime. In contrast, users reported more downtimes with GoDaddy.

By default, all of HostPapa’s plans come with a wide range of security features, including server firewall, monitoring, intrusion detection, DDoS/Brute-Force protection, secured entrance/exit, network monitoring, and ModSecurity.

On the other hand, GoDaddy’s standard security features include DDoS protection, firewall setups, server hardening, and security audits.

Both hosts run CloudLinux OS on all Linux-based shared hosting servers. CloudLinux OS securely isolates your account to protect it against threats targeting others on the same server.

Both hosts offer free automatic daily backups, but only with higher-value plans.

As previously mentioned, HostPapa’s plans all come with a free CDN, while GoDaddy only includes a CDN with its WordPress hosting plans. A further advantage to a CDN is that it adds a layer of DDoS protection.

HostPapa has more security features than GoDaddy, making it the better option when it comes to your website’s security.

HostPapa Has More Support Channels and Helpful Staff

Both HostPapa and GoDaddy have comprehensive and organized knowledgebases with articles and tutorials covering a range of topics.

You can reach HostPapa’s customer support 24/7 via live chat, phone, email, support ticket, mail, and fax. It is available in four languages – English, French, Spanish, and German. Also, phone support is available through multiple global toll-free call centers serving different countries and regions.

I went for the live chat and had all my questions answered right away, hassle-free.

In contrast, GoDaddy offers customer support exclusively through live chat and phone. Phone support remains accessible around the clock, 24/7, while the live chat function operates solely on weekdays.

Unlike HostPapa, I was disappointed when I got in touch with one of GoDaddy’s representatives. The agent wasn’t very helpful.

HostPapa wins the support challenge with ease by providing more helpful resources, a free training session, and knowledgeable customer support staff.

GoDaddy Loses Out to HostPapa

Despite its fewer years in the web hosting business, HostPapa defeated GoDaddy in all five categories. HostPapa has more affordable prices, more freebies with its plans, higher performance, better security measures, and helpful support.
