GoDaddy vs Netregistry – Our Surprising Results [2024]

Mark Holden Written by:

If you’re struggling to decide between GoDaddy and Netregistry, then GoDaddy is the better of the tw0 – but neither offer good value for money. There are cheaper and better alternatives – and I can’t really recommend you choose either GoDaddy or Netregistry – unless you opt for GoDaddy’s WordPress hosting, which is (marginally) better than its shared hosting.

I reached this conclusion after testing both web hosts across multiple categories. It turns out that GoDaddy and Netregistry will burn a hole in your wallet with paid add-ons, and neither deliver fast, stable performance.

It’s quite the opposite with a better alternative like Hostinger.1 You’ll get your money’s worth with more robust infrastructure, feature-packed plans, and near-perfect performance.

1. Plans and Pricing

GoDaddy Has More Plans and Cheaper Prices, but Neither Is Good Value for Money

GoDaddy offers shared, reseller, WordPress hosting, VPS, and dedicated servers. In contrast, Netregistry only has shared (cPanel hosting) and VPS plans.

With GoDaddy, you have the option to subscribe monthly, annually, biennially, or triennially. With Netregistry, you can choose to be billed annually, biennially, or triennially. You’ll pay less with both hosts for longer the subscription terms.

GoDaddy may have slightly lower prices than Netregistry, but neither is considered cheap.

With GoDaddy’s annual plans, you get a free domain name and a 30-day money-back guarantee. It also offers free website migration (with WordPress hosting) and a 48-hour money-back guarantee with monthly subscriptions.

On the other hand, Netregistry doesn’t offer a free domain, free website migration, or a money-back guarantee. But you can get a free cPanel hosting trial for one month.

If you’re looking for a balance between price and quality, I wouldn’t recommend either GoDaddy or Netregistry. These two hosts don’t include value-added features as standard, and you’ll end up paying more with paid add-ons or a higher-value package to get the best out of them.

That’s why I recommend Hostinger. It’s affordable and offers better value for money.

2. Features

GoDaddy Has Limited Features, but Netregistry Is Even Worse

With GoDaddy’s Linux shared hosting, you get 100 GB to unlimited disk space (HDD), unlimited bandwidth, 1 to unlimited hosted websites, 10 to unlimited MySQL databases, and one free Office 365 Email for the first year.

More notable features include cPanel and a one-click application installer. GoDaddy also provides a free SSL certificate with its higher-tier plans for the first year.

On the other hand, Netregistry’s three cPanel hosting packages come with 20 GB to 100 GB storage, 500 GB to unlimited bandwidth, 1 to 10 databases, and 50 to unlimited email accounts. All plans also come with a free 3-page DIY site builder, Installatron CMS installer, and web statistics.

Use the following side-by-side table to compare GoDaddy and Netregistry further:

GoDaddy Netregistry
Hosting Types Shared (Linux and Windows), reseller, WordPress hosting (managed and unmanaged), VPS, dedicated servers Shared, VPS
Free Domain
Free SSL Certificate
Disk Space 20 GB – Unlimited 20 GB – 200 GB (depending on the plan)
Bandwidth Unlimited 100 GB – Unlimited
Automatic Backups
Control Panel cPanel, Plesk cPanel
Email Accounts 1 Free Microsoft 365 professional email 50 – Unlimited
Free CDN Only with WordPress hosting
Free Site Migration Only with WordPress hosting plans
Money-Back Guarantee 30 days
If you want a host that includes a range of premium features as standard with all its plans, check out Hostinger.

3. Performance

Both Hosts Have Frequent Downtimes and Slow Loading Speeds

GoDaddy has servers in the U.S. and India, but Netregistry only has servers in Australia, where most of its customers live.

Some of GoDaddy’s plans run on SSD drives, whereas Netregistry relies on HDD storage with all its plans. Compared to traditional disk drives, SSD performs faster and is used by many hosts to boost your website’s overall performance.

GoDaddy provides a free CDN (Content Delivery Network) with WordPress hosting, but Netregistry doesn’t offer it at all. A CDN boosts your website’s loading speeds, among other benefits, by placing it on a global network of cloud servers.

Even though GoDaddy and Netregistry promise a 99.9% uptime, they both underperformed on that promise.

GoDaddy is one of the slowest web hosts I’ve seen when it comes to page loading speeds. Read this expert GoDaddy review to learn why it fails to deliver good performance.

Netregistry is just as disappointing when it comes to page loading speeds. Find out what went wrong in this in-depth Netregistry review.

As you can see, both services are pretty disappointing when it comes to performance. My advice? Go with Hostinger; its performance results are far more impressive.

4. Security

Despite Its Limitations, GoDaddy Is More Secure

GoDaddy secures its servers with DDoS protection, firewalls, and 24/7 server monitoring. It also provides antivirus/anti-spam for all email accounts.

With GoDaddy’s shared hosting plans for Linux, it uses CloudLinux OS. CloudLinux OS isolates your account from others on the same server to protect it against malicious threats.

GoDaddy also provides daily backups with specific plans.

Even though GoDaddy has limited security features, Netregistry hardly takes any security measures with its standard plans. However, Netregistry does have a system that automatically detects malicious attacks and notifies you before suspending the service. It also detects potential phishing attacks.

That said, GoDaddy, while limited, has more security features than Netregistry. But if you’re looking for a more secure host, I’d recommend going with Hostinger.

5. Support

Both Hosts Provide Slow and Sometimes Unhelpful Support

Both the GoDaddy and Netregistry websites are informative and include several guides and tutorials.

You can get in touch with GoDaddy’s customer support via live chat and phone 24/7. It has several global call centers serving different countries and languages.

When I tested the live chat, I was instantly connected to a representative. However, I was misadvised and didn’t get the help I needed.

[GoDaddy] - [Live chat]

With Netregistry, you can contact customer support via live chat or ticket. Both channels are available during working hours (8:30 am – 8:30 pm AEST).

Similar to the experience at GoDaddy, I swiftly connected with a live chat agent from Netregistry. Regrettably, the agent’s level of expertise was not sufficient, leading to a significant consumption of my time.

There’s No Winner Here, Only Losers

In light of the above information, it’s hard to make a compelling argument for GoDaddy or Netregistry. They both have unreasonable prices considering the basic features and few to no freebies on offer. The performance (uptime and page loading speeds) is highly disappointing, and neither host provides adequate support, unlike Hostinger’s affordable shared hosting plans1.

No wonder GoDaddy and Netregistry didn’t make it into the top 10 list of the best web hosting services.

FAQ

Does Netregistry offer WordPress hosting?

No. Netregistry isn’t specialized in WordPress hosting. But you can install WordPress along with other popular CMS apps using the Installatron one-click application installer with any cPanel hosting package. Netregistry isn’t quite right for you?, I recommend these WordPress-optimized hosting services.

Does GoDaddy use SSD?

Not with all packages. GoDaddy only offers SSD storage with VPS and dedicated server plans. If you’re looking for better SSD hosting alternatives to GoDaddy, take a look at these fast and cheap SSD hosting services.

Does Netregistry offer VPS hosting?

Yes. Netregistry has four managed VPS packages that come with daily backups, 200 GB of disk space, and up to 4 GB of RAM. However, I recommend any of these cheap and reliable VPS services instead.

Can I transfer an existing WordPress website from NetRegistry to Hostinger? Is this a simple process? I am only moderately tech savvy with websites.
