Website Planet had the chance to sit down and chat with Dmytro Mashchenko, CEO of GetDevDone and Member of the Board of P2H.
We discussed how the company started, the challenges they faced to become a leading provider of web development and design solutions, and looked at the recent and future trends in the software industry.
Let’s introduce GetDevDone to our audience. What services and products do you offer?
GetDevDone (original name PSD2HTML) is a leading provider of web development and design solutions. The company has been present on the market for almost 18 years and has in-depth expertise in building websites and online stores, creating banner ads and email templates, mobile development, UI/UX design, and many other areas.
GetDevDone delivers various front-end related projects including single-page applications and custom website themes using cutting-edge JavaScript frameworks: React, Angular, Vue, and others. Of course we are also engaged in back-end development with all popular and modern frameworks.
One of the focuses of our activity is email template development. All our templates fully meet the requirements of the major email service providers such as MailChimp, Salesforce Pardot, Hubspot, SendGrid, Marketo, and others.
In the range of our services are also building online stores and websites based on the major content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Shopify, Magento, BigCommerce), cross-platform mobile development using React Native and security optimization.
How does your mission differ from the other companies in your niche?
GetDevDone’s mission is to handle any web development-related request from small and medium clients at any time.
We are always committed to a long-term partnership with our customers and strive to become their unique remote team.
We care about our customers’ trust, therefore our team is available almost constantly
and ready to pick up any tasks on time. As a result, about 85% of our clients return to us, and the average duration of our cooperation with the customer is 3-4 years. We are also proud of the projects that we have been running for more than 10 years in a row.
Who are your typical customers and what problems do they have when they come to you?
We strive to provide optimal solutions for all our customers regardless of their activities direction. In general the number of our clients exceeded 160 thousand.
However the largest share of our clients are digital, advertising/marketing and web agencies, who are in search of an outsource web development service provider. They сome to us with clearly defined tasks and at the same time careful budget.
One of the most important wishes of our customers is flexible and reusable code. Flexibility is how easily a codebase accepts future changes.
Furthermore, among our clients there are a lot of other businesses that require front-end or back-end development services. In our portfolio there are projects with healthcare, pharmaceutical, IT companies etc. And of course startups, whose goal is to make themselves known with the help of a website and not to spend a huge budget on it.
And what makes them eventually choose you over your competitors?
First of all, it’s our project implementation speed. Our clients get smooth, well-adjusted workflows to ensure a fast delivery. For example, our shortest projects last no more than 4 hours, and the average duration of one project is 5 working days.
GetDevDones’ team of almost 500 professionals is ready to deliver a project of any scope or complexity within a time frame few other companies can guarantee. Furthermore clients can select from a variety of engagement models – subscription, retainer, ad-hoc, ASAP development.
For a complex project client can hire a dedicated full-time remote team that works by following the Agile methodology. The customer can choose whatever communication channel he wants, including his own.
Can you share a success story from one of your customers? What was their pain point, and how did you help?
First of all, I would like to note the GetDevDones’ ASAP team that successfully copes with projects, which have tight deadlines. Sometimes customers come to us with tasks that can be completed in 20-30 hours, that is in real 4-5 working days. However, the customer’s time is limited to 1-2 days or even shorter. In this case we connect our ASAP team, which implements the project within the time frame set by the client.
I would also like to point out our collaboration with USAFootballPools.com, which started in 2017, when the client requested our assistance with making the site mobile-friendly in order to pass the Google mobile-friendly test. As a result, USAFootballPools.com passed the Google mobile-friendly test easily, which greatly improved its chances to rank high on SERPs.
In 2022, the client returned. This time around, he wanted us to restyle the website in accordance with his new designs and make some of the pages responsive just like we did before. The number of pages we needed to restyle was way larger than the first project – around 100.
The back-end was handled by the client himself while we worked exclusively on the front end. The client’s designer created the designs of the main pages and our developers styled the screens by mimicking those designs. We wrote new HTML/CSS/JS code without any frameworks or libraries such as Twitter Bootstrap. That allowed us to create code that was clean, semantically correct, and well optimized for search engines.
We also remembered how important mobile-friendliness was for the client and applied the best practices to ensure that the website rendered perfectly across devices, screen sizes, and resolutions.
As a result, the website’s performance scores are in the green zone for both the desktop and mobile versions.
What do you see in the future of your industry, and how do you plan to cope?
The most popular trend behind which we see the future is implementing AI technologies. Over time we see that an increasing number of developer tools become automated with the use of Artificial Intelligence.
We plan to implement elements of these technologies in the nearest future, which will definitely cut down on time spent on the project and, accordingly, reduce the budget. At this stage, we are sure that without the participation of a human, AI cannot fully perform tasks.
For example, when writing code, the result will not be flexible, but hardcode, which will need to be improved. But the fact that artificial intelligence is a great helper, we are 100% sure.
